Keppies Fire Trail = 30k loop.

d out a fire trail and said it linked to the next village. 
After the usual signage threatening hell and damnation, it go steep,; 200m up in less than a k. While hiking, I see an echidna harvesting ants. They're more intelligent than humans,  in that they take only enough ants to this the colony,  not destroy it.   Unfortunately he/she saw me and refused to pose for a shot. 
 One of 5 locked gates today  I thought my decorations softened the scene a bit.  Why do Australians feel the need to discourage people from using these spaces?

 So my quiet, tiny baby boy of 19 years ago has growed up to be a 6 and a half feet tall bean pole gamer. He's still nice though,  lovely in fact.  I just wished he'd be more active,  may be ride alongside me.   Today,  that happens.  Something about my ride reports?  Something triggered within him ? From the first hill,  it's a wipeout. His spindly gamer's legs have no thrust.  He gasps, he swoons for air,  he points to his heart pounding in his breast but his face is grey.   Over the hill,  he's reborn.  Zooming up behind me , dodging mum's and prams on the path. His long greasy freak flags flying.  So proud,  so hopeful.

Bikepacking, lockdown & test ride

Covid reeks havoc in Sydney 200k  away & the Premier places the entire state under lockdown.  No exercising more than 5km from home.  My local village store is offer 12km  away and I can legally ride there to pick up mail and a coffee.  There is some slack about" mental health needs" under lockdown,  so if the local plod pushes back I'll play the wild card.  * zzz * This morning's tinkering sees Cliffy begin his transformation. From dowdy commuter to bikepacking monster.   Here he is sans pannier rack & with Brookes saddle. Grrr!  Watched a video of the 2021 GBduro - (go to: https://bikepacking.com/news/2021-gbduro-winners/ bikepacking ) bottom to top of the UK. Three of the top 6 finishers were woman,  and they all looked crazy  wild on specialised bikes. Downsizing Motoring Life

 It's been a while now that the "dream" of downsizing to a motorcycle had been in the back of my mind.   The reasons for doing this are:- Global warming.  Current vehicle takes to much time towns $'s to maintain. Simplify my life towards more cycling and gardening and spending less on a car.   Aligning my lifestyle with my heartsong - as above.  Fun.   To use as a cheap recce vehicle for bikepacking trips.  There are negatives,  the main one being that I won't have a work ute for transporting my gardening gear.  But my son, Sergio mostly works with me,  is being gifted a car,  and i can use my daughter's little buzz  box car.  I guess I'm being a bit un-smart, but for me Global Warming dictates change.  So I've been looking at large motorcycles with capabilities android storing equipment and off road riding.   OPTION 1: BMW650 "Dakar" is s 2001, has  on it and lists at $5k.
